Vehicle Description 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 LTZ Key to the new vehicle's formula was GM's Convert-a-Cab concept, featuring the innovative Midgate. This foldable steel bulkhead allowed the bed and cargo area to expand into the passenger compartment, enabling owners to carry a 4x8-foot sheet of plywood fully enclosed, in a smaller, more maneuverable package than a traditional crew cab long-bed truck. Motor Trend's 2000 review stated, 'The Avalanche looks likely to draw some blood in its assault on pickup and sport/utility orthodoxy. This is a new kind of vehicle, and it may change some thinking in the marketplace. If it does, it may also change some other truckmaker's product plans.' MotorTrend, Chevrolet Avalanche Timeline June 2012 For consignment, a 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 LTZ with a title verified 120,683 actual miles. This second generation Avalanche falls right in the middle of the production year of this model, 2002-2013 and serves as a very clean representation. Exterior Can't miss red adorns this big vehicle and of course, it's Chevrolet's Victory Red that was opted for and it covers the smooth lines, prominent front bumper, and step on rear bumper. The short lived plastic cladding of the early models is gone, replaced here with simple body lines and side molding color matched to the truck. The truck's distinctive open sail panel in the bed begins a contrasting charcoal topper and surrounds the one piece rear window. Chrome side steps visually pull together the 22-inch Escalade wheels, here with 285/45R22 tires with a mid 2018 date code and retaining the Cadillac hub covers. The side mirrors are also chrome and the roof features rails, a shark fin antenna, and a sunroof. Overall, a clean presentation with imperfections noted as some scratches and chips, many of which are touched up. There are some rock chips up front, and some general minor inclusions. Interior If it's a work truck on the outside, the inside offers a luxurious contrast, beginning with doors clad in Tan and Light Titanium plastics with wood faceplates on the switchgear and all four doors present cleanly. Inside, a pair of leather bucket seats are split by a wide and tall center console, adorned with lots of plastic wood. The wide rear bench also offers luxurious comfort with plenty of room, a center tuck-away armrest, and a drop down entertainment screen with controls between the front seats. The 70/30 split allows for some pass through while retaining extra seating at the same time. Back up front, a leather wrapped steering wheel fronts a handsome dash and standard instrument cluster while a forest of burlwood colored trim adorns the width of the dashboard and surrounds the center stack where a multi purpose screen relays info from the AM/FM/CD player and A/C panel. An overhead console provides lights and sunroof controls and the headliner presents in nice condition. The covered and plastic lined bed shows some use but is fully intact without damage. Drivetrain Under the hood, a clean 5.3 liter LC9 V8, rated at 310 horsepower and mated to a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission. Power is routed through the 10 bolt rear and 3.73 gears at the axles at both ends. Undercarriage Typical patina and surface rust is seen throughout on an otherwise clean underside. We do note some fluid on a front crossmember but beyond that, conditions are dry and invasive rust free. A single exhaust runs through its original muffler and power disc brakes are on all four wheels. Suspension includes coil springs front and rear with a multi link tying it together in back. Drive-Ability We step up into this red rig and fuel injection assures a quick start. Height and visibility are nice and the interior provides a comfortable perch from on high. The 5.3 delivers good power and the truck tracks straight and brakes on demand. All functions on this Chevrolet operate as intended and it's off to a good spot in the truck room for this beauty.
