Canadian Production The Canadian version of the Plymouth Valiant was produced with specific modifications, including a distinct front clip and ornamentation changes compared to its U.S. counterpart. This model continued to carry the Valiant badge instead of the Plymouth badge, which was common in the United States. Performance and Features The standard engine for the 1964 Valiant was a six-cylinder, which was reduced to 95 horsepower. The model was known for its reliability and practicality, appealing to a wide range of consumers in Canada. A bit of confusion to the American population was that the Valiant was referenced to as a Barracuda, built under the identification model number VVX1-P, which is the production identification of this classic. The early Barracuda was marketed as a Valiant, and not as a Plymouth. Engines were similar to the U.S. - the 170 was the standard six. Interiors on the 1964 models were identical to the American version. The Canadian Valiant continued as a 1964 Dart (VL Series) with Valiant front clip and ornamentation changes. All Canadian Valiants, including Barracuda, had a "Valiant" badge on the hood in place of the "Plymouth" badge seen on the U. S. Valiants. Likewise, the rear banner below the trunk read “Valiant”, and not Plymouth”. They also had the U. S. Valiant gauge cluster and hubcaps. While 6-cylinder VIN started with "1", the V-8 started with "7" - thus reading like a Dart VIN. ***If you are viewing this on Facebook, be sure to visit our website to view all photos.
